We thank all the authors who contributed to this book. Their patience and dedication to this book is phenomenal and we could not have completed this without their inspiration and enthusiasm. We also thank our colleagues at Great Plains Diabetes and the Yale Diabetes Center.

We would like to recognize our colleagues across the country who share our vision of clinical excellence and patient empowerment in diabetes care and who continue to inspire and challenge us to reach higher. They are the ones who share our passion to confront this disease and bring our very best to those patients on their journey with prediabetes and diabetes.

We want to thank the American Diabetes Association (ADA) for continuing to recognize the important role of the nurse and other health-care providers in the care of the person with diabetes. A heartfelt thank you goes to the dedicated members of the ADA staff who provided countless hours and incredible expertise in making the third edition of this book a reality. In a particular, we would like to thank Abe Ogden, Victor Van Beuren, and Rebekah Renshaw for their work on this book.

We also thank our families for their ongoing support and understanding as we live our passion, caring for people with diabetes. Without their love, support, and guidance we would not be able to undertake this endeavor.

Most of all, we are inspired by those who live with diabetes and the challenges that they face day in and day out. We are grateful for all that they have taught us over the years.
