Sue Kirkman is grateful for her many colleagues, with diverse expertise, at the University of North Carolina and previously at the American Diabetes Association and at Indiana University. She appreciates the support and tire-less work of the books staff at the ADA, particularly Victor Van Beuren. She would especially like to thank the many people with diabetes with whom she has interacted over her career. They have, by far, taught her more about diabetes than any other resource. Her greatest wish is that future advances in therapies and in tools for self-management will continue to improve their health and well-being.
