The general goal of this series is to provide meaningful information to young people who have diabetes mellitus so that they can enjoy a better life. Specific objectives are to present a piece of information aimed at a single subject and to provide this information at a time when it is most appropriate. The series is multiauthored, with each segment reflecting the tenets of that author. Thus, the philosophies expressed from one segment to the other may not be concordant. The physician or diabetes educator choosing to photocopy and distribute these articles to young persons with diabetes should exercise discretion in selection so that they are in general agreement with the patient's overall management plan. Suggestions for improvement of the format or for new additional topics should be directed to the Committee on Youth Education, % DIABETES CARE. The Committee is also seeking volunteers for development of subjects.
