Rhinocerebral Mucormycosis and Juvenile Diabetes Mellitus: Report of a Case with Recovery

Rhinocerebral mucormycosis is a rapidly fatal fungal disease. Presentation and natural course are characterized by headache, facial and eye pain, maxillary sinus swelling, and bloody mucoid discharge with progression to bony destruction. A 15-year-old girl with juvenile diabetes who presented with cavernous sinus thrombosis is described, and the medical and surgical management is detailed.
