We appreciate their suggestion regarding a possible relationship between exogenous insulin dosage and the observed levels of urinary 8-iso-prostaglandin F, which we plan to address in the future in a more detailed analysis of this and other markers of cardiovascular risk. The upcoming analyses are intended to explore whether changes seen in these measurements are related to the treatment regimens themselves, to changes of glycemic variability attained, or to other on-treatment effects such as change of weight. We also thank Monnier et al. for pointing out our inadvertent mistake in the assignment of units associated with 8-iso-prostaglandin F values, which should be in pg/mL.
