The American Diabetes Association (ADA) “Standards of Care in Diabetes” is based on a complete review of the relevant literature and is intended to provide clinicians, researchers, policy makers, and other interested individuals with the components of diabetes care, general treatment goals, and tools to evaluate the quality of care. The ADA Professional Practice Committee updates the Standards of Care annually and strives to include discussion of emerging clinical considerations. Access the 2025 Standards of Care at diabetesjournals.org/care/issue/48/Supplement_1.

This three-episode miniseries of Diabetes Core Update focuses on compounded medications, particularly those used to treat diabetes and obesity. These episodes explore regulatory considerations and potential risks versus the benefits of these treatments and feature case-based perspectives from clinicians and pharmacists. The final episode is specifically designed for patients and simplifies the discussion into an accessible format that empowers people with diabetes to make informed decisions in collaboration with their doctors. With misinformation around vaccines continuing to create uncertainty, this three-part series places a strong emphasis on combating misconceptions to help patients feel confident in their vaccination choices. Clinicians can learn effective strategies for addressing vaccine hesitancy, including the use of motivational interviewing techniques that prioritize patient autonomy by seeking permission to explore concerns about vaccination. Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) affects at least half of patients with heart failure and is increasingly prevalent due to aging, obesity, and diabetes. In this special three-part series, host Neil Skolnik explores this increasingly recognized condition, providing primary care clinicians and health care professionals with essential insights into screening, diagnosis, and management. This special edition of Diabetes Core Update is sponsored by Roche. For more information, visit diabetesjournals.org/journals/pages/podcasts_diabetes_and_heart_health

In partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), this collection of Diabetes Care articles aims to expand upon the CDC’s national data and information on current estimates of the burden of prediabetes and diabetes in youth and adults. The articles are authored by members of the CDC and have undergone rigorous peer review, as with all original research submitted to the journal. With this collaboration, Diabetes Care and the CDC will publish one or two articles annually with the goal of enhancing current diabetes data and ultimately resulting in improved outcomes for those whose health and wellness are affected by diabetes and its complications.
