There is a paucity of information regarding the misuse of weekly glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists taken once daily. This article presents a case report of a patient who accidentally administered a once-weekly GLP-1 receptor agonist, dulaglutide, once daily for 6 consecutive days. The patient experienced numerous hypoglycemic episodes, requiring changes to her diabetes regimen. However, she did not experience any gastrointestinal (GI) adverse effects. Multiple factors seem to have contributed to this dosing error, which included a change in her insurance, the use of medication samples, and life stressors.
