Urinary Excretion of Insulin A Chain by Normal and Diabetic Subjects

With the use of a radioimmunoassay procedure it has been found that the A chain of insulin is a normal constituent of human urine. Only about 0.2 per cent of the plasma A chain is “cleared” in urine. The A chain excreted per mg. creatinine was significantly higher in the case of diabetic than that of normal subjects.
