Effect of Resection of Adipose Tissue on the Diabetes and Hyperinsulinism of Benign Symmetric Lipomatosis

Resection of 1,720 gm. of adipose tissue did not alter a chemical diabetic glucose tolerance and a late excessive plasma insulin rise in a patient with benign symmetric lipomatosis. This suggests that other factors than a feedback from adipose to the beta cell are responsible for the hyper-insulinemia of obesity.
