Poirier O, Nicaud V, Vionnet N, Raoux S, Tarnow L, Vlassara H, Parving H-H, Cambien F: Polymorphism screening of four genes encoding advanced glycation end-product putative receptors: association study with nephropathy in type 1 diabetic patients. Diabetes50:1214–1218, 2001
In the above article reporting the polymorphism screening of four genes encoding advanced glycation end-product putative receptors, the polymorphism RAGE C-1152A in the RAGE gene was not a true polymorphism, but revealed a difference of sequence between the region upstream of the RAGE gene and a homologous sequence located in the PBX2 pseudogene on chromosome 3. This confusion is due to an experimental error, for which the authors apologize. The reported weak association between nephropathy and RAGE C-1152 and RAGE +196A would therefore exist with RAGE +196A only.
