In the above-cited article there are three instances, as listed below, where patients are described as having type 1 diabetes for the duration of one or more weeks. The correct duration is one or more years. These errors have no significant effect on the data or the interpretation of the data. The authors apologize for this error and any problems it may have caused.

On page 536 of the article, nPOD case number 6052 is incorrectly described as “a 12-year-old donor with type 1 diabetes who died 1 week after diagnosis....” The donor died 1 year after diagnosis.

On page 537 of the article, in the sentence that reads “Such islets dominated the pancreata of donors who had been diagnosed with the disease for several weeks (nPOD cases 6062–6064; Supplementary Table 2),” “several weeks” should be changed to read “several years.”

In Supplementary Table 2, “Summary of analyzed nPOD samples,” all of the type 2 diabetic cases described in “Time since diagnosis” as “weeks” should read “years.”

The online version reflects these changes.

nPOD will amend the mode of labeling samples to avoid similar confusion in the future.
