Visual Abstract

Objective: Previous studies have reported that women who experience early menopause was associated with increased risk cardiovascular disease. This study aimed to explore whether early menopause had an effect on the development of microvascular complication in patients with T2D.

Methods: This study enrolled 254 patients with T2D. Patients were divided into three groups based on age at menopause (AMM). CKD was defined as eGFR < 60 ml/min per 1.73 m2 and/or urinary albumin/creatine ratio ≥ 30 mg/g.

Results: Clinical characteristics of subjects was showed in Table 1. Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that AMM was not associated with the prevalence of CKD (Table 2).

Conclusions: Early menopause may not play a role in the development of diabetic microvascular complication.
