Ryan J. McDonough, DO, FAAP, is an associate professor of pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes at Children’s Mercy – Kansas City and the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then completed his general pediatrics residency and fellowship in pediatric endocrinology and diabetes at Children’s Mercy. After his fellowship, he joined the faculty at Children’s Mercy and was appointed the co-medical director of the diabetes center.

Dr. McDonough was named an emerging leader in the Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet and has served as co-chair of its Psychosocial Factors Committee. He is actively engaged in diabetes quality improvement locally and nationally through the T1D Exchange Quality Improvement Collaborative.
