In this Diabetes Spectrum From Research to Practice section, we have brought together three topics of importance to diabetes care, with a focus on special populations: blood glucose management in people on hemodialysis, the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in diabetic retinopathy screening, and the complex relationship between diabetes and depression.
The first article in our collection (p. 7) is a review by Shubham Agarwal and colleagues of the current state of blood glucose monitoring and diabetes treatment in the small but complex population of individuals with diabetes who are on hemodialysis treatment (1).
