John R. White, Jr., PharmD, PA, is a professor of pharmacotherapy at Washington State University's College of Pharmacy, in Spokane. He also served for several years as a diabetes consultant and primary care provider for the Spokane Tribe's Indian Health Service Clinic in Wellpinit, Wash.
Dr. White earned his doctorate in pharmacology degree at Mercer University in Atlanta, Ga. After a general clinical residency, he completed a pharmacodynamic/pharmacokinetic fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. He completed his Physician Assistant training at the University of Washington School of Medicine, MEDEX Northwest in Seattle.
Dr. White has published three books, including the recently released American Diabetes Association/PDR book Medications for the Treatment of Diabetes, and 17 book chapters. His articles on diabetes have appeared in the Journal of the American Medical Association, Diabetes Care, Clinical Diabetes, Diabetes Spectrum, Endocrine Clinics of North America, Annals of Pharmacotherapy, Journal of Managed Care Pharmacy, and numerous other journals. He has also served on the editorial boards of PostGraduate Medicine, Clinical Diabetes, and DOC News and wrote a column in the magazine Men's Health entitled “Pills of Wisdom.”
Dr. White currently serves on the editorial board of Diabetes Health and lectures at international, national, regional, state, and local meetings for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and pharmacists.
