Marjorie Cypress, PhD, C-ANP, CDE, is an adult nurse practitioner at ABQ Health Partners, Department of Endocrinology, and a consultant in Albuquerque, N.M. She holds a doctorate in nursing from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She has worked in diabetes management and in the education of patients and health care professionals for more than 25 years in New York and New Mexico.

Dr. Cypress has written numerous book chapters and articles for professional and lay journals and has developed low-literacy patient education materials with the Diabetes Prevention and Control Program in New Mexico. She was an associate editor for the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Complete Nurse's Guide to Diabetes Care. She has lectured nationally on the topics of diabetes management and the promotion of self-care behaviors.

She is a past chair of the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators, has served as an ADA national board member, and was the 2004 recipient of the ADA Outstanding Educator in Diabetes award. She currently sits on the ADA Education Recognition Program committee and the Professional Practice Committee of the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
