Melinda D. Maryniuk, MEd, RD, CDE, FADA, is the Director of Care Programs for Joslin Innovations at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, Mass. She is responsible for overseeing the clinical, educational, and quality improvement activities for the division, as well as for domestic and international clinical partnerships. Her areas of special interest include nutrition, patient education, behavior change, and increasing access to quality diabetes education services.
Ms. Maryniuk has worked in the field of diabetes education for more than 35 years and has lectured and published extensively for both patient and professional audiences in the United States and internationally. She is an active member of the American Diabetes Association (ADA), having served on its national board of directors, as chair of its Education Recognition Program Committee, and as an associate editor of Clinical Diabetes. For the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, she served as chair of its Diabetes Care and Education Practice Group, as well as chair of the Division of Clinical Dietetics and Research of its Council on Practice. She was the 2005 recipient of the ADA Outstanding Educator in Diabetes Award and was the 2010 recipient of the Academy’s Medallion Award.
Ms. Maryniuk earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Tennessee–Knoxville and a master’s degree in education from Tufts University in Medford, Mass. She completed a dietetic internship at the Frances Stern Nutrition Center in Boston, Mass.
