Data are means ± SE for the indicated number of rats of each genotype (n). Glucose blood concentrations and plasma insulin and leptin concentrations were measured on blood samples obtained at tail tip before starting the infusions (0 h) and after 24 and 48 h of infusion. Systemic HG-HI, infusion of glucose alone through the jugular vein; systemic EuG-HI, infusion of insulin plus glucose through the jugular vein; central HG-HI, infusion of glucose plus insulin through the carotid artery towards the brain.
